Checks that run on your device
Spelling, grammar, punctuation, style and readability checks, and all counters, run in your browser. The dictionary and rules are downloaded like any other part of the page; your text is not sent to us.
AI features
When you press an AI button (AI proofread, Rewrite, Explain & fix, Check the tone, Get essay feedback), the text in the box is sent over HTTPS to our server, which passes it to an AI model through Vercel AI Gateway to generate the answer. TextCheck does not store that text or the answer. The request passes through our hosting provider (Vercel) and the model provider, whose standard terms apply. Your IP address is held in memory for up to an hour to enforce a fair-use limit.
What is saved in your browser
To save you retyping, TextCheck keeps these in your browser’s local storage: your current draft, your personal dictionary, ignored suggestions, your US/UK setting and your reading speed. They never leave your device and you can remove them here:
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count visits. It is cookieless and does not collect personal data or the text you type.
No accounts
There are no accounts, logins or email sign-ups on TextCheck, so we hold no profile about you.
