Data Collection and Storage

Client-Side Processing

By default, TextCheck operates entirely in your browser. Your text is:

• Never sent to our servers during basic grammar and spell checking
• Stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
• Never shared with third parties
• Under your complete control - you can clear it at any time

Optional AI Features

If you enable optional AI-powered grammar checking:

• Your text is sent to Vercel AI Gateway for analysis
• The text is processed by OpenAI's GPT models
• We do not store or log the text sent to the AI
• The AI provider may process the text according to their privacy policy
• You can disable AI features at any time to return to client-side only processing

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This analytics service:

• Collects aggregated, anonymous usage data
• Does not track individual users across sites
• Does not access or collect your writing content

Your Personal Dictionary

When you add words to your personal dictionary:

• Words are stored in your browser's IndexedDB
• They never leave your device
• They persist until you clear your browser data or remove them

Writing History

Your writing history (saved drafts and past documents):

• Is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
• Never syncs to our servers or any cloud service
• Can be cleared at any time from the Settings panel
• Is not accessible to us or any third party

Cookies

TextCheck uses minimal cookies:

• Essential cookies for site functionality (e.g., remembering your settings)
• Analytics cookies (Ahrefs) for understanding site usage
• No advertising or tracking cookies

Third-Party Services

TextCheck uses these third-party services:

• Vercel AI Gateway: Optional AI grammar checking (only when enabled)
• OpenAI: AI model provider (only when AI features are enabled)
• Ahrefs Web Analytics: Privacy-friendly site analytics

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Use TextCheck without enabling AI features
• Clear your writing history and personal dictionary at any time
• Export your writing data
• Disable analytics by using browser privacy tools

Children's Privacy

TextCheck is appropriate for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
